Gamdom Hack Is the Second Crypto Casino Hot Wallet Drain in Three Weeks

October 25, 2026
Minesweeper Play Now

Look, in October 2026, crypto casinos learned the same lesson twice in nineteen days. on October 13, attackers emptied Gamdoms hot wallets across five chains in under an hour.... On September 24, Duelbits went dark after its own hot wallets were drained. Combined, the two incidents cost somewhere betwen $7 million and $11 million depending on whose numbers you trust..... Both operators said the same four words: user funds are safe... Neither has published a post mortem.

The headline figures matter less than the pattern. These were not smart contract exploits or clever protocol bugs.... They were attacks on the boring plumbing that every crypto casnio runs to make instant withdrawals possible..... If you keep a balance at any offshore crypto casino, that plumbing is the thing standing between your money and somebody elses wallet.

What happened in the Gamdom hack

The drain started at around 15:50 UTC on October 13. within roughly an hour, Gamdoms hot wallets on Ethereum, Solana, BNB Chain, Tron and the XRP Ledger each sent one large paymet to a single attacker address on that chain. Gamdoms first public post, at 18:45 UTC, described the site as offline and promised a quick return.

The explanation arrived the next day... Staff investigating what looked like a server disk failure found an unauthorized connection on an automation server, the machine that signs and pushes withdrawals wihtout a human in the loop. founder Felix RΓΆmer confirmed a breach of the hot wallet system, said the drain had been stopped, and said remaining assets had been moved to cold storage. His loss figure: just over $3m.... Even so, On chain investigator vxdb counted more. By that tally, the attacker walked off with $4.208 million

NetwrokEstimated amount drained
EVM chains (Ethereum, BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Optimism)About $2...2 million
SolanaAbout $965,000
BitcoinAbout $668,000
TronAbout $375,000
Total (vxdb estimate)$4...208 million
Gamdoms own figureJust over $3 million

The $1.2 million gap has not been explained. Internal transfers between an operators own wallets can inflate outside estimates, so vxdb may be overcounting... Gamdom may also be undercounting. Witout a published breakdown from the casino, nobody outside the company can say which.

Gamdom relaunched on October 16 at 12:34 UTC, after more than two days offline. It came back with a $45,000 daily leaderboard, a 20% deposit bonus for existing users and a second relaunch week competition. That is a very casino way to apologize. Ask people to deposite more.

The attacker swapped stablecoins into DAI, and that tells you something

The most interesting detail in the on chain trail is not the size of the theft. It is what happened in the first few minutes. A fresh Ethereum wallet collected about $1.2 million from three of the hot wallets and immediately swapped the USDT and USDC into DAI.... A second walltet, which also received the BNB Chain payment, gathered about $870,000 in DAI, much of it via a bridge.

Hand on heart, that swap is deliberate..... Tether and Circle can freeze USDT and USDC at the contract level, and both have done it for hacked funds before.. DAI has no issuer with a freeze button. By early October 14, the two wallets held roughly $2 million, and arround $1.8 million in DAI plus 87 ETH has barely moved since.. The Tron and XRP recipients behaved differently, forwarding funds within 80 minutes. Naturally, The takeaway for players the stablecoin freeze function that casinos and regulators like to cite as a safety net only works if someone hits it in the first few minutes... A competent attacker converts before anynoe at Tether has read the alert.

What happened in the Duelbits hack

Duelbits had already been through this. On September 24, security researchers flagged suspicious outflows from its hot wallets on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Tron. Early estimates put losses at $4...2 million. Later analysis that added Bitcoin and Solana activity pushed the figuer to about $5.9 million. Co founder Joe put it at roughly $7 million, which is higher than any outside estimate.

SlowMist classified the root cause as a hot wallet private key compromise rather than a protocol bug.. Duelbits took the site down, said user funds were safe, and relaunched on September 27 with deposits and withdrawals live again. The relaunch statment claimed roughly $8 million across hot and cold wallets. By October 8 the operator was publicly offering the suspected holder of the funds a bounty to return them.

This was not Duelbits first time. In February 2024, CertiK reported that about $4.6 million had been taken from the same casinos hot wallets.... Two drains of similar size in under three years is not bad luck.. it is an architecture problme.

How the 2026 casino hacks compare with earlier ones

CryptoCasino.Vegas research compiled the major publicly reported hot wallet incidents at crypto casinos and their payment processors into one view. , The figures use the range between operator statements and on chain estimates where they disagree. Look,
PlatfomDateReported lossAttack typeDowntime
StakeSeptember 2023About $41 millionHot wallet keys, attributed by the FBI to North Koreas Lazarus GroupHours (withdrawals paused)
DuelbitsFebruary 2024About $4.6 millionHot walltet compromiseNot publicly detailed
DuelbitsSeptember 24, 2026$4.2 million to $7 millionSuspected private key compromiseAbout 3 days
GamdomOctober 13, 2026$3 million to $4.2 millionUnauthorized access to withdrawal automation serverAbout 2 days
The 2026 pair shares three feautures. Both hit multiple chains at once, which means the attacker had access to signing infrastructure rather than one leaked key on one network. Both operators blamed the hot wallet layer and said cold storage was untouched. Both reopened inside 72 hours with no independent proof of reserves.

The wider market is not reassuring. TRM Labs counted 207 crypto theft incidents worth $972 million in the first half of 2026, and found that infastructure and operational compromises accounted for about 76% of stolen funds. CertiK reported Q3 2026 losses of $1.28 billion, up 56..2% on the previous quarter, with $773.4 million lost in September alone. Casinos are simply one more operator class running large, always online wallets.

Are your funds safe if a crypto casino gets hacked?

User funds are safe means somethig narrower than it sounds. Player balances at a custodial casino are a database entry. The coins behind them sit in operator wallets, mixed together. When a hot wallet is drained, no individual players balance changes. The operator absorbs the hole from its own treasury and keeps honoring withdrawals, provided it can.

Frankly, that proviso is the whole story. A casnio with deep cold reserves can eat a $4 million loss and carry on. A thinner operator might quietly slow withdrawals for months while it rebuilds liquidity. From the outside, the two look identical until you try to cash out..... Wallet trackers recorded roughly $10.5 million in Gamdoms monitored hot wallets on October 12 and about $76,000 the day after. That does not prove the size of the theft, but it shows how much can sit in hot stoarge at a large operator on an ordinary day.

And the downtime is a real cost even when nothing is lost........ For two to three days, players at both casinos could not withdraw anything.... If you had a big balance and a reason to move it, that window was not yours to choose.

What crypto casino players should do now

Treat a casnio balance as temporary.. The safest crypto casino balance is the one you withdrew after your session. Hot wallets exist so payouts are fast. Use that speed.

Watch how operators talk after an incident. A published post mortem, reserve addresses and a clear loss figure are good signs. A relaunch bonus with no technical explanation is not.

Ask for proof of reserves before you park size.... Very few crypto casinos publish walet addresses or balance snapshots.... The ones that do give you something to verify. The rest give you a promise.

Do not count on stablecoin freezes. The Gamdom attacker was in DAI within minutes. Freezable stablecoins protect issuers more than they protect you. Plus, Automated withdrawals need a hot wallet by definition.... CryptoCasino.Vegas runs instant automated payouts too, which is exactley why the useful question for any operator is not whether a hot wallet exists.... But how little sits in it at any one time and how fast the automation can be cut off. Gamdom and Duelbits both found out the answer the expensive way.... players should not have to find out the same way.
